Stuart McIntosh

Chief Information Officer at Santos Ltd

Stuart McIntosh is the CIO of Santos Limited, having held this role since 2016.

Over the last few years, Stuart led the transformation of Santos’ IT/IS capability. One of his first major initiatives was to drive the company’s journey to the cloud, significantly reducing IT costs while also improving reliability and performance. In addition, he streamlined the company’s complex IT application and services landscape, high-grading to a smaller portfolio of standard applications. Stuart also modernised the approach and skillsets of the IS organisation by focussing them on the internal customers and their business goals whilst providing an environment for each individual to thrive.

Stuart recently led Santos’ SAP S/4HANA program that integrated three formerly siloed companies onto one common ERP system. The majority of the rapid 18-month S/4HANA program was conducted during the 2020 oil price crash and the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic which required agile, innovative and virtual delivery approaches across more than 25 operational sites and 3,500+ users.

Stuart has been in Australia since 2013 when he moved to Brisbane from the UK to become the CIO for Queensland Gas Company, part of the British multinational oil and gas company, BG Group. Prior to that, Stuart spent eight years at BG Group in the UK working in a wide variety of IT and operational roles.

In his free time, Stuart loves spending time with his family in Brisbane and continuing his passion for software development.
