Rob James

Principal Consultant in Business & Technology, former CTO at Qantas and former Group Chief Digital & Information Officer at Vodafone


Rob James is a Board Level Executive with over twenty years of experience across the public and commercial sectors with experience in the IT, telecommunications, gaming, entertainment, retail operations and agriculture industries, and managing budgets of up to $700m per annum.

Most recently, Rob was on the Executive Team at TPG Telecom Ltd; a Top 30 ASX listed company as the Group Chief Digital & Information Officer. His responsibilities include all aspects of Technology and Digital across all brands within the Group. Prior to this Rob was the Group Chief Technology Officer for Qantas Ltd where he looked after all aspects of the airline including International, Domestic, Loyalty & Jetstar. Rob has also been the Chief Information & Product Officer with William Hill Australia where, in his first year managed a product led strategy resulting in excess of $80M of revenue. Prior to that, Rob was the CTO for Star Entertainment Ltd. Rob is currently an independent Consultant providing expertise, advice and service to some of the largest organisations across the globe in various sectors.

Rob has also had Non-Executive Director roles, which included Thred.io (ASX:THD), a technology organisation focused on Augmented Reality experience in Retail.

Finally, Rob was voted No 8 CIO in Australia 2016 by CIO Magazine and received the 2016 EGR Gaming Award for the Innovation of the Year for Australia’s first & only In-Play betting product and in 2012 received an award for Innovation by ProcessWorld for delivering “electronic chip purchase vouchers”, a unique innovation to the Casino industry.
