David Arnold

Client Technical Leader at IBM

Dave joined IBM in 1986 as an Electronics Engineer in the IBM Hursley Development Lab in the UK working on the development and testing of monitor and hard disk technologies.

Dave switched to a software engineering role in 1990, initially supporting CICS and then moving into a Professional Services role where he focused on first of a kind and early adoption services engagements with IBM middleware products in the messaging, integration and connectivity arenas.

In 2004 Dave relocated to Sydney to lead the IBM WebSphere Technical Sales Team where he developed deep relationships across many of IBM’s key financial services clients and became recognised both locally as well as globally as a trusted advisor and practitioner for middleware solutions. He brings a history of pragmatic yet passionate influence combined with precise adherence to IBM’s clients’ needs.

In 2015 Dave was seconded to work under NDA with SWIFT and the New Payments Platform (NPP) consortium to complete the high-level design of the NPP. Dave was IBM’s lead architect consulting on the NPP design across all participants to ensure the technical success of the NPP. Post the 2018 NPP go-live, he took on a broader role in IBM Hybrid Cloud Software as Chief Architect for IBM’s Platform and Management, Integration and Development and Digital Business Automation portfolios.

After 35 years, supporting a vast portfolio of IBM clients through a wide array of technical challenges, Dave moved to a role as an IBM Client Technical Leader representing IBM Software, Hardware and Services for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
