As we continue giving the stage to the remarkable women in tech beyond International Women’s Day, it’s stories like Livia Viana’s that truly embody the spirit of #InspireInclusion.

As a Senior Salesforce Consultant at Swan Technology Solutions, Livia’s path from Brazil to becoming a tech influencer in Australia is a testament to the power of determination, specialisation, and embracing one’s unique capabilities.

From Brazil to tech brilliance in Australia

Livia’s journey into tech didn’t follow a straightforward path. Arriving in Australia in 2016, she dived into the IT world in 2018 with a clear vision—to leverage her knack for technology and carve out a niche for herself.

By specialising in Salesforce, Livia unlocked the door to IT, demonstrating the potential of new technologies as an equalizer in the field.

Her story highlights an essential tip for women eyeing the tech scene: specialise in emerging tech areas, where the playing field is leveling, and new opportunities bloom.

Facing challenges head-on

Livia candidly shares the hurdles she’s encountered, especially the extra mile women often have to go to match their male counterparts in tech.

From battling stereotypes to overcoming burnout, her journey reflects a broader narrative of women striving for recognition and equality in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Yet, it’s her resilience and commitment to excellence that shine through, offering inspiration to women navigating similar paths.

Empowering others through mentorship

Beyond her personal achievements, Livia is passionate about lifting others up.

With volunteer work that has led more than 20 women to follow in her footsteps, she’s living proof of the impact mentorship and community support can have.

Speaking in front of 10,000 people about her initiatives to reduce bias and empower women, especially in the Latino community, marks a milestone in her career and a massive contribution to the tech diversity dialogue.

Advice for the future

Reflecting on her journey, Livia’s advice to her younger self and to women embarking on their tech careers is powerful: Be more confident.

She stresses the importance of self-belief and the courage to stand up for oneself, recognising one’s worth and capabilities.

Looking ahead, Livia envisions herself in a leadership role that reflects her strengths and allows her to make a broader impact.

Her aspirations bring to light the ongoing challenge for women in tech to be seen, respected, and valued for their contributions, regardless of their background.

At ADAPT, we’re committed to championing stories like hers, driving forward the conversation on diversity and inclusion in tech.

Let’s continue working towards a future where everyone in tech feels empowered to achieve their full potential, nurtured by a community that celebrates all voices and contributions.
