Mohan Aiyaswami – Protecting the Crown Jewels – Your Data is Both an Asset and a Threat

Feb 7, 2019 | 2 min

Mohan Aiyaswami is CTO and CISO at the Department of Defence.

Presenting at ADAPT’s Cyber Edge in Sydney, he said that two things are crucial for information security in defence. First, to “understand what the information landscape looks like” and second, “to understand what the aggregation of this information actually means.”

Data is a blessing, Aiyaswami said, but it does not come without challenge. The biggest of these is ensuring its consistency. According to Aiyaswami, to ensure data consistency organisations need to establish a strong governance mechanism that will set a direction for the entire organisation.
